Random Ramblings

Random Ramblings

Today I attended all 3 of my classes for the first time in about two weeks. In my defense, I only have classes on Tuesday/Thursday. Wait, that doesn’t help does it?

I saw a West Virginia license plate with the words “Wild, Wonderful” printed at the bottom. I don’t think anything more needs to be said.

Thunder sent in this quote from The Boss (Bruce Springsteen):

“The pressure coming from the government and big business to enforce conformity of thought concerning the war and politics goes against everything that this country is about – namely freedom.”

Thunder told me to “do with it what you will”, but I don’t really know what that’s supposed to mean, so I’m just going to leave it at that. I do wonder, however, why Thunder was at brucespringsteen.com (which he listed as the source for the article).

Brad Friedel, goalie extraordinaire for US Soccer was just elected to the All-Premiereship team, becoming the first American ever to do so. American soccer is on the rise! His name is even being mentioned on the short list of keepers to replace Fabian Barthez’s butterfingers on Man U. Go Brad, Go Brad, it’s your birthday!

Dan asks, “Did Asians never discover cheese? They don’t have cheese in any of their dishes. I just think that’s weird.” Well, being half-Asian myself, I can honestly say that I have absolutely no idea.

Speaking of Asian food, I went to Golden Dragon for the first time in months today. It was kinda nice going back in there, it brought back a lot of memories of me sitting in there reading my Newsweek while enjoying some beef and broccoli. Unfortunately, the b&b hadn’t been too desirable the last couple of times I had gone in there, so I usually pass up “The Dragon” for Sakura. Today my wallet could only afford lo-Mein, but it was awesome. Whenever I need a cheap, filling meal, I’ll definitely think of “The Dragon” and their lo-mein.

Don’t forget, Smallville’s on tonight.

Camera Thieves

Someone – excuse me, someones – thought it would be funny to take pictures of their arses with my digital camera, not tell me, and then leave me to guess which one was which when I downloaded them to my computer. Fortunately for me, these “someones” are complete idiots and I knew that my camera had been “removed and replaced” and I was able to thwart their evil plot. Well, except for the fact that I had to see the horrific images as I deleted them from the camera memory.

Good job guys.

This weekend was a lot of fun. Glad I could have a weekend like this right as we’re hitting the home stretch with school and stuff. Hope everyone had as good of a weekend as I did or better. This is gonna be short and sweet because I’m feeling inspired and am going to dedicate some time to my senior project. Later, dawgs.

Party Conversation Gone Bad

Party Conversation Gone Bad

“No, we got a wallet, we can prove he’s Gilligan. Dan, show her your wallet…”

Welcome to the new thedustin.com!

I am officially opening blueskyday a few days early with the hopes of getting some feedback while I work on a couple of other features. This is the first time I’ve ever been able to roll out a new phase of thedustin.com after it’s more than half way done. It might still be a little early because there are some things that I’d like to add, but the good news is that everything you can see and touch works, so that’s a plus.

This will be the first version of thedustin.com that will be almost completely customizable, and I hope you’ll take advantage of it by making this your homepage. In the coming days I’ll be adding new features, so check back often. I’ll also have a complete guide available soon to show you how you can customize thedustin.com to suit your needs and preferences.

I really want your opinion. If you see something you don’t like, let me know. If you don’t see something that you would like, let me know. Once I get the full list of features that I know for sure I want to add, I’ll probably solicit your opinion, so have your mouse ready.

Thanks again for being a loyal viewer of thedustin.com. I apologize for the extremely weak quality/quantity of writing lately, but as you can see, I’ve been busy (I’ve also had some school work to finish up).

Be sure to give HollaBackv2 a spin as well.

It’s hard to believe there’s only 3 weeks left of my undergraduate experience. Kinda makes me wonder if I’ve done all I should have. I’m not sure I did all I was supposed to do, but I think I did all I wanted to do.

More on this developing story later.

Bigger Mouth

Do you ever buy a toothbrush only to realize when you use it for the first time that it’s too big? I never remember that toothbrushes (or is it teethbrush?) come in different sizes until I get home and I realize I can brush both top and bottom in one swoop.

Then, I don’t really want to go back and get another one because they’re like $2.79 and most weeks that would actually cause me to overdraft my checking account.

I guess there are worse things in the world.

Earth Day

Before you get yourself in a tizzy, we were just kidding:

thedustin: so, how do you celebrate earth day?
Cher: plant trees
Cher: clean up trash
Cher: i dont know
Cher: haha
Cher: sit outside and enjoy the weather
Cher: who knows
Cher: i’m not a tree hugger so i sure don’t
thedustin: drink out of styrofoam cups, drive an suv
Cher: lol
thedustin: spill oil
Cher: that’s it exactly!
Cher: good job
Cher: throw grease down your drain
Cher: throw trash out your car window
thedustin: lots and lots of hair spray!!!
Cher: oh yeah!
Cher: woohoo
thedustin: i like to leave the bathroom sink faucet on too … it has a soothing sound, that makes me think of magnificent lakes and flowing streams

That’s what boredom does to you. [In the case of “Cher”, false names were used to protect the innocent].

Shelf Ball

It’s been about 6-8 weeks since I last felt compelled to attend class. Now I’m just glad there’s only 2 weeks left of this guilty feeling I get when I skip – or “choose alternative learning experiences” as I like to say. Anyway, I’m missing a class right now, but I think I’m going to be productive, perhaps do some research for a paper due Thursday. Of course, T-Rav just showed me shelfball on espn.com, so we’ll see how much research actually gets done. Later, folks.
