Same Old Song

Instead of concentrating on writing new, awesome songs to make money off of, songwriters are trying to find new ways to make money off of songs they’ve already written. They already get paid whenever a song is “publicly performed to a live audience” (which includes when you hear a song in a movie). Now they want to see some cheese every time you preview a song in iTunes. Wouldn’t that just be like the proverbial dog biting the proverbial hand that feeds it? Is this supposed to deter people from pirating music?
