Paperless

I was chided tonight for having a credit card with inferior rewards – a cash back card that caps the annual reward – and it reminded me of Stuff White People Like #132 (from the book): Not Having Cash

Ask the nearest white person how much cash they have on them. If they are under 35, the answer will likely be under $10.

The other reason is that white people are obsessed with credit card rewards. Just ask them and they’ll tell you how their credit card rewards them with airline miles, Amazon points, or even cash back. If they have to pay for something in cash, it just kills them to know that they are missing out on a chance to get rewards. They also hate pennies.

Just so you know, this one hits me spot on so if you ever invite me out to lunch or something you’ll want to pay attention to the last bit of advice given in this entry in the book:

This information can be useful if you bring a white person to an ethnic restaurant that only takes cash. Never assume that white people will have money, and unless you want to give out a short-term loan, you should always tell a white person in advance if a restaurant is cash only.

interesting — i’d like to say that i think this also applies to all college graduates under the age of 30.5
we never had any money and don’t plan on starting all that now. i have a rewards card that rewards me on the reward i got from a previous card. i haven’t seen cash since i lived at home.
