So this year's Super Bowl is an old fashioned gangsta rap war, pitting the East Coast Pittsburgh Steelers vs the West Coast Seattle Seahawks. I just love it when the NFL consipres to create a themed Super Bowl, and they couldn't have picked a better year to break out the gangsta rap theme to coincide with Super Bowl XL (only second to the All Pirate Super Bowl of a couple of years ago), leaving each side to duke it out for the chance to pimp their own Escalade. Detroit, WHAT!?!

Well everyone's throwin their predictions around and I thought what better way is there to throw myself back in the blogging game than to give an in-depth, well thought out and executed Super Bowl analysis and prediction. Let's see where this takes us ...

Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers dominated most of their way through the regular season, waiting until Week 15 to suffer their first loss at the hands of a desperate Chargers team that failed its bid for a playoff spot. Although they ended up losing 2 of their last 3 games, they still managed to retain the title of one of the hottest teams heading into the playoffs (how, I'm not quite sure) and hit their stride runnin straight into the playoffs. Surely, having an experienced quarterback and their vaunted triple threat offense really helped. An upgraded defense proved to be the final piece in solving the Patriot puzzle and winning the AFC title.

Seattle Seahawks
I have to admit I'm a little biased because Seattle's potent offense is powered by a star wide receiver who also happens to be an N.C. State alumn (though surely not a graduate, are they different?). That's right, Koren Robinson, who lines up at wideout for the Seahawks has had another stellar year and is surely the primary reason for their appearance in the Super Bowl (well besides NFL MVP Shaun Alexander - he probably helped free up Koren a little bit). Luckily, Koren has a competent quarterback, Elisabeth Hasselback's brother-in-law, Matt Hasselback and a pretty good coach in Mike Holmgren too. It truly will be a great matchup to see Seattle's quick-strike offense up against Pittsburgh's steel curtain defense.

I know you're probably eagerly awaiting my prediction, but I think I'll let you chew on this analysis for a while, and wait until I hear more about injuries and practices before I make my predictions.

Disclaimer: So Thunder has this thing about people who write and talk about sports and yet have no idea what they're talking about. I would say he should just live and let live, let people enjoy sports the way they want, but I'm sure I'd probably feel the same way with other things, just maybe not as strongly as he does. Anyway, my analysis of the Pittsburgh Steelers is really about the Indianapolis Colts who I guess everyone thought would be in the Super Bowl. As for the Seahawks, Koren Robinson did play for them at one point, but is no longer with the team due to what some might call Koren's apparent issues with authority and hanging on to the football.

I thought I had this really good story to tell, but I really don't. Basically it's only been within the last five years that I realized carrot cake really has carrots in it. Which is odd because I used to think I didn't like carrot cake because I didn't like the idea of a carrot flavored cake. But I do know that the confusion stems from my childhood disillusionment about coffee cake having absolutely nothing to do with coffee except that sometimes it is served with coffee. Anyway, now I'm on this carrot cake eating fix and I have about 12 carrot cake cupcakes in my refrigerator, that I made myself, from scratch because I'm all domestic and the such though I had a ton of help from my aunt in the form of about 10 phone calls on Saturday when I prepared my first batch of these cupcakes. The most important lesson I learned from my experience - baking powder and baking soda are two different substances, each equally important to the rise and fall of a good baking recipe.

I know it's almost ten days late but I just put a load of laundry in the washer and so while my clothes are goin slish-slosh, I thought it'd be a perfect opportunity to wish everyone a happy new year. So happy new year and all. I hope everyone's year is off to a terrific start.
