Work, Dustin, work!
I know, I know but last night I had this weird dream where I went to watch a movie, saw a preview for a live action Transformers movie, went to see the Transformers movie right after the movie I originally saw and the Transformers movie turned out to be a live-action (with some weird short sequence that was actually animated) G.I. Joe movie. Well when I woke up this morning, it got me thinkin about who I'd cast in a live-action G.I. Joe movie. I checked out my good buddy Greg's Previews to see if there had been any castings, and found that I may not be alone in generating such a list (though I wouldn't consider myself a hard core fan). Anyway, I found a list of "confirmed" characters, like anything in a movie not yet being filmed can be confirmed, so I'll use that as a starting point.
Here it is, my wonderful cast for a knockout G.I. Joe movie ...
Hawk: (Denzel Washington)
Duke: (Hugh Jackman/Brad Pitt)
Flint: (Will Smith)
Dusty: (Ashton Kutcher)
Snake Eyes: (Jet Li)
Cobra Commander: (Willem Defoe)
Destro: (Vin Diesel)
Stormshadow: Christian Bale/Guy Pierce
Baroness: (Famke Jansen)
Scarlett: (Keira Knightley/Kate Beckinsale)
Lady Jane: (Halle Barry)
Quick Kick: (Jackie Chan)
Doc: (Samuel L. Jackson)

Duke: Val Kilmer, Let?s face it, as much as we all love Val if he?s still A-list, its at the bottom of the A-list, he can play a good soldier, has the looks/charisma to be the joe?s field commander, and could be just the right level of Star Power for this project
Hawk: Sam Shepard, he has the kinda worn and hard look I would expect the Joes leader to have.
Flint: Nathan Fillon, He?s played a soldier a few times before and would be a great second bananna for the joes.
Snake Eyes: Ray Park, Snake Eyes wears a mask and is mute, basically you just need someone light on the acting and high on the acrobatic/martial arts stuff. Ray Park is the proven master.
Cobra Commander: Gabriel Byrne, I just really love him and think he could pull it off.
Destro: Ciaran Hinds, big burly and capable of a deep booming voice. Shave his head and paint if silver and you?ve got Destro.
Stormshadow: Chow Yun-Fat, the perfect bad ninja who later turns good. He kinda has that whispery quality and calm talking like SS too.
Scarlett: Kate Beckinsale, she?s proven lately to have a taste for comic book type movies, she?s freaking hot, has proven she can handle a physical role and would look great with red hair.
Baroness: Famke Jansen or Monica Bellucci, Both really hot and with a certain ?foreign? quality.
Lady Jay: Kristen Wilson, I just don?t know why, somehow I doubt we can get Halle Berry for this one though
Roadblock: Eamonn Walker, he already played a soldier in ?Tears of the Sun? and if you shave his head he IS Roadblock.
Rock and Roll: Alan Tudyk, just seems perfect to play a free-spirited soldier guy
Grunt: Brian Van Holt, as perhaps one of the most frequent background soldier in movies today this seems the role he was born to play.
Gung Ho - Jesse Ventura
Sgt. Slaughter - himself / Randy Savage
Zartan - Jean-Claude Van Damme / Glen Danzig
Snow Job - Steve Irwin
Destro - Ving Rhames / Michael Clarke Duncan
Wild Bill - Burt Reynolds
Cobra Twins - Lambert Wilson twice
Cobra Commander- I love the Willem Defoe pick, but if it was my movie and I had total say, it would be Richard Dreyfus!
